Solar panel traffic lights

Bridge construction on route # 44 over St John river is using solar panel.

The beauty about this is, we used the bridge today to shop in Deland, raining and foggy over bridge, Saturday so no workers however, the solar panels still powered the traffic lights and have been since 01/06/2014!

Quinn Construction of Palmetto, the company doing the work have been using two traffic light systems to direct traffic, both use a single solar panel to power the lights, one for each side of the bridge.
During repairs that began Jan. 6 and are expected to take 160 days, motorists will be able to use the bridge, but traffic will be limited to one lane at a time, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
