Pope Frances meets with victims sex abuse scandal

Ok

First thing, Jesus did not marry simply because he knew what he came down to do for ‘sinners’ and did not wish to also leave behind a wife and children?

After checking the scripture my brothers and sisters in the Catholic faith, I believe that the answer to why Priest, Bishops, Cardinals, the Pope and so on are not married might be found in their Bible Scripture?

P.S.

Anyone going around saving souls should also not be married, your scripture not mine?

After reading the verse or two used in the bible, it may help to also read at least a few verses before and after stated verse, reading the whole chapter or even better the complete book, for instance, Luke 6:40 is one of their verses.

Luke 6:40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

Maybe the whole bible would help much clearer?

Luke 6:40

37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

39 He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

41 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Nowhere in scripture does it say that those in the service of the Lord cannot get married. What it does say is that if you are about the Lords business and you are married, then think of yourselves as not being married. Do not worry about what your wife’s are doing, but set about the task of doing the Lords work without any distractions.

Mathew 6:24-25 Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[c] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[d] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Matthew 10:24-25

22 You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

24 “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub (Satan or Devil), how much more the members of his household!

Luke 16:13

10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?

13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.

Luke 14:26-33

The Cost of Being a Disciple

25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

ROME

Pope Francis on Monday is holding his first meeting with victims of a sexual abuse scandal by priests that has tarnished the image of the Catholic Church over the last decade.

The pope will meet with victims from Britain, Ireland and Germany after holding a private mass at the Vatican which they will attend.

In late May while on a visit to the Middle East the pope declared “zero tolerance” for any member of the clergy who would violate a child. That followed a pledge by the Vatican to craft protocols to hold bishops and other church authorities accountable if they fail to report suspected abuse or protect children from pedophile priests.

Francis also revealed that three bishops are currently under investigation by the Vatican for abuse-related reasons, though it wasn’t clear if they were accused of committing abuse itself or of having covered it up.

“There are no privileges,” he told reporters
