Can we think about our children for a change?

People (our congress for one) so hate the president and his family that they will even fight and tie up the health of their own children while in school.

54 children, junior cooks from around this country, (One ‘child chef’ from each state, the District of Columbia and three U.S. territories were invited to the White House for a kids’ “state dinner” hosted by the first lady),

because they helped prove that even adults can make ‘good tasting, healthy food’ if they follow the lead of their children?

First Lady: Healthy Food Has Place in Lunchrooms

One kid chef from each state, the District of Columbia and three U.S. territories were invited to the White House for a kids’ “state dinner” hosted by the first lady.

“The truth is, is that if 8-, 9- and 10-year-old kids can cook and happily eat a healthy, tasty meal, then there is absolutely no reason why we can’t get nutritious food into every school in this country that kids will actually enjoy,” the first lady said.

She used the third annual event to wade into a dispute she’s currently in with the School Nutrition Association over new standards for school lunches.

The first lady called out the “grown-ups” in Congress, who she said are “trying to undo some of the progress we’ve made,” and delivered her sharpest remarks yet on the food industry.

“There’s a lot of money involved in feeding our kids at school,” Mrs. Obama said, surrounded by schoolchildren from all 50 states at the third annual “Kids’ State Dinner” in the East Room. “We are currently spending $10 billion a year on our school lunch program…so it’s not surprising that certain interests are resisting change and trying to take us back to the old way of doing business, because for them there’s a lot of money on the line.”
