Accusing the feds of offering nothing but “lip service,” Texas Gov. Rick Perry will deploy as many as 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to help secure his state’s border with Mexico, he said Monday.
It is about time the Texas governor did something other than cry about our president, I was beginning to wonder just who is the governor of Texas, Obama or Perry?
If you do not like the border crossing into your state, do something for your state besides crying to the media!
Sending only 1,000 troops is like trying to take down a “Baby Huey, (C-5M)” with a Cap Pistol?
The C-5M Super Galaxy, the biggest military transport aircraft used by the US Air Force (USAF).
A Republican who is widely expected to run for President in 2016, Perry has been vocal in accusing President Obama of not doing enough to stop the recent surge immigrants from Central America.
More than 3,000 U.S. Border Patrol agents currently work in the region, but Perry has repeatedly asked Obama to send in the National Guard as well. On Monday, he framed the mobilization of the National Guard as necessary to prevent criminals and drug smugglers from entering his state.
He did not focus on the recent surge of children illegally entering the U.S., the problem at the heart of the current border crisis.
Since October, more than 57,000 unaccompanied minors, mostly from Central America, have crossed the border without documentation
General: Guard to Take Observation Role at Border
Texas Adjutant General John Nichols said the troops will help deter illicit traffic while U.S. Border Patrol agents deal with a record spike of unaccompanied minors entering the country. The Texas National Guard troops are headed to border on the orders of Republican Gov. Rick Perry, who has been a chief critic of the White House response to the crisis and is considering another run for president in 2016.
Nichols said troops will be armed for their safety, but when asked if their weapons would be loaded would say only that ammunition would be in magazines.
