Lawmakers need to quit meddling

Barry Wood, Mount Dora.

As the Supreme Court prepares to render a decision as to whether or not an individual state can prohibit same-sex marriage, I once again mourn the waste of public money by the Florida Legislature supporting silly lawsuits against gays and their marital rights, against Democrat voters, seeking to suppress their right to vote, etc. I have an answer to this problem: Eighth grade civics teachers should nominate one of their average students to serve as a consultant to tell the Legislature their proposals are unconstitutional. The taxpayers would save millions in wasted time by the Attorney General’s Office, and worse yet, money at high rates paid to private counsel. Barry Wood lives in Mount Dora.
